Home

Home is a strange concept, and for the first twenty years or so of your life it’s been the same place. Where you grew up. Your safe haven where mommy and daddy will always be.

But then there comes a point, a pinnacle of realization, where it changes. Where the place you grew up is no longer home.

And depending on the situation, it’s scary or rewarding.

Then you find a new home.

My new home was with my best friend. But friends grow up and grow attached to someone else. And if you don’t find someone else, you’re left behind.

And home never really feels the same.

And that’s what growing up is about. Searching for that imaginary place to call home. Sometimes you fail, and home is where ever you find to sleep for the night. Sometimes you’re lucky and home is where you go after work, where someone is waiting.

Sometimes home is where you spend all your time.

I could see where everyone’s home was. Turk’s was the apartment with Carla. Elliot’s was her apartment. Dr. Cox’s was the hospital. Dan’s was still with Mom and Dad.

And as I sit on a chair in an apartment that claims to be rented by me, I feel lost.

Like time is running out. And I’ll never find home.
